Kirra grew up on a farm in the Macleay and has always had a passion for agriculture.
"I was always interested in motorbikes, horses and cattle when I was younger. I have a background in agriculture and have always wanted to pursue that," she said.
"My Grandparents own property out near Willawarrin and they breed Angus cattle, so I grew up around cattle and agriculture in general."
Kirra graduated high school last year and is now taking some time to gain more experience before attending university.
She has been accepted into the University of New England for a Bachelor of Education and Charles Sturt University for a Bachelor of Policing and Public Safety.
"If I did go into a career with the Police Force, I would want to focus on rural crime," Kirra said.
Kirra is currently working at O'Donnell & Hanlon in the call centre and said working locally is allowing her to gain more experience.
"It has been really great to get the experience and learn from the people that work here. They have all been really supportive of me in entering the Showgirl Competition and are very proud."
The Kempsey Show has been a fixture throughout Kirra's family. She is following in her mother's footsteps by being crowned Kempsey Showgirl, while other members of her family have a long history being involved in the Show Society.
Kirra also previously won the Junior Showgirl competition and was an entrant in the Teen Showgirl competition.
"I'm honoured to be able to continue the tradition and to follow in my mum's footsteps," she said.
"To keep that tradition in the family is really important to me."
Usually the Kempsey Showgirl is announced on the first night of the show, however due to the recent flood the Kempsey Show Society have postponed the show until September.
The announcement for this year's winners was held at an event held at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club.
"Over the next few months until the Kempsey Show, I will be exploring options for fundraising events for the community that will be following COVID-19 restrictions," Kirra said.
"One event I do want to continue is the Showgirl Ball because it does get a lot of support from the community. We're looking at holding the ball after the show in September."
Kirra said she hopes to also encourage young women to take on leadership roles in the community.
"I want be be a role model for young rural women and help boost their confidence.
"I also want to hold a fundraiser for young women for them to gain experience and have something to look forward to.
"We have been hit hard by the drought, bushfires and flood and I want to help the community bounce back. I hope that people will support the show later in the year."
