Nine-year-old Jacob Lang officially waved goodbye to his long locks after growing out his hair for the past two years.
He's donating his hair to Wigs 4 Kids who supply wigs at no cost to kids who have lost their hair during their cancer battle.
Jacob also lost his grandmother in August 3 last year to cancer - her battle began two years ago and inspired him to grow his locks.
May 5 would've been her birthday.
With teachers and students watching on, a nervous Jake didn't look back as his father Paul chopped away at various pony tails.
Cheering and clapping echoed throughout the crowd with plenty of support for the local legend.
Generally, the hair has to be longer than 25 to 30cm with about two ponytails capable of making a wig.
Jacob had well over two.
"It's weird," Jacob replied when asked how he felt after his ponytails were chopped off.
Before Jacob's hair was cut, the school announced $1,751 had been donated via the donation page.
The school raised over $300 after hosting a casual clothes day with gold coin donations.
Following the function, a touch up at the hairdressers delivered Jake a new short back and sides look which he said will take some getting used to.
