The ladypies took on the Kendall Blues to start the day, winning 20-0.
Try-scorers for the girls were Taylor Kelly-Scholes with a double, Breanna Denaro and Margaret Drew.
A close game ensued in the men's with the Magpies taking to the first placed Beechwood Shamrocks.
Unfortunately, Lower Macleay couldn't take home the chocolates - defeated 28-20.
Despite the loss, coach Mike Davis was stoked to see how well his side is coming together so early in the season.
David Davis, Maurice Kelly, Mitchell Dixon and Dennis Ritchie all went over for tries.
"I'm quite proud of the boys, it was our fourth game and Beechwood have been playing together for years and for the boys to come out and play the way they did - they really gelled together," he said.
"It just goes to show we can be one of the teams to beat down the track."
Davis said the day as a whole was a great success.
"It was a good turn out, a really good crowd supporting the club, getting behind the ladies and boys teams," he explained.
"We had one of the founders of the club, Jim Murphy, come into the shed and a couple of boys I'd played with to say some words before the game.
"He just said what the jersey and club means to everyone, for the newcomers letting them know it's like a brotherhood and when you put the jersey on it's a family club."
The day saw a few technical difficulties with the auctioning of items with either an online auction or event at the next double header to follow.
At Laurieton, the South West Rocks Marlins got off to a rough start and the Stingrays with the home side running out to a 28-6 lead at half-time.
The Marlins mounted an amazing second half, posting 30 unanswered points with Neville Donovan going over for a double.
Jarrad Reeves' goal-kicking was the key again, slotting six from six.
Forward Edward Vale-Tighe was outstanding, taking away the three points.
The Marlins will travel to Lake Cathie this weekend to play the Raiders.
Marlins currently sit on six points in 4th while the Raiders are last on two points.
