Dondingalong is set to play host to round one of the NSW off road championship and Kings of Kempsey.
Round two of the Kings of Kempsey will be hosted by Wititrin with the winner in each class in combined times from both those events to take home $500.
42 competitors have entered for the event in pro buggies, side by side sports cars and performance four wheel drives.
"We have a pretty good list of entrants at the moment," Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club Vice-President Todd Wilson said.
"There's people from Sydney, Dubbo, Queensland, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Muswelbrook and plenty of locals."
Those competitors and their navigators include:
- Tim Baker (Ben Miles)
- Todd Wilson (Ashley Wilson)
- Stephen Harris (Ethan Harris and Dakota Harris)
- Riley Wilson
- James Conomos (Jake Conomos)
- Tim Battle (Mark Delaforce)
- Bruce Morgan (Daniel Morgan)
- Kym Von Holdt
A group called 'Dads on track' will also enter with a special cause in mind.
"One of our members lost his life to suicide last year so this group of people have bought his old race car and they're using it for Dads that have trouble with depression," Mr Wilson explained.
In 2020, the state championship was cancelled due to COVID-19 as was the Kempsey 300.
The 300 was also cancelled in 2019 due to dry conditions faced by the community.
In 2019, the Dondingalong off road challenge winner was Peter Carr with the #698 SXS Turbo finishing the two days of off road racing with a 50s lead over second placed Nathan Chivas and Scott O'Conner. Justin Guy and Eric Hume rounded out the podium.
Racing at Circuit Lane will kick off at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday with free entry for spectators and canteen facilities available.
