Principal Kathryn McNee said the challenge was open to government and private schools, and students were tested in the areas of problem solving, initiative and teamwork.
"We had 32 students from Years 5 and 6 participate and the competition was assessed on the basis of an accumulated point score," Kathryn said.
"The last time we won the challenge was back in 2010, so we were delighted to see our students excelling."
One of the exercises challenged students to build a bionic hand using everyday materials such as straws, elastics and string.
In another, youngsters had to avoid a blackout in 'Future City' by balancing energy needs with a range of power stations to choose from.
The event was held at Kempsey High, and teacher Ben Carver guided the Aldavilla team.
Kathryn said Ben had played a significant role at the school in learning areas such as robotics, technology and computer programming.
