Providing COVID restrictions don't ramp up again, the classic will run Friday July 16, Saturday July 17, and Sunday July 28 at Scotts Head.

So far, 204 positions have been filled with both male and female competitors, and an age spread from 11 years to 75 years.

Nearly 90 per cent of entrants are from 2020's infamous "Covid - Cancelled" event, and their entries have rolled over to this year.

Many family entries have been received as well and they will be contending for the privilege of having their family name enshrined on the Family Achievement Honour board.

This year, there are 15 divisions, starting with under 18 Junior Ladies and Men, through to Over 70's Men's and Over 40's Ladies.

Scotts Head can offer surfers a long sand bottom point ride, which on its day can seem endless!

Well protected from the winter southerly winds, conditions can last all day, giving competitors ample time to show their skills on the longboards.

All competitors will be riding 9 foot plus longboards, including the Old Malibu division, where surfers will be riding original pre 1965 longboards.

The modern day equivalent being the "Log" division, where boards have only one fin, 50 / 50 rails (which are the edges of the boards) and judges award "old school" smooth, stylish surfing manoeuvres.

Many past winners will be returning to defend their titles including Jack Norton from Newcastle, last year's winner of the Hamilton Haulage - Open Logs & Air Vids - Old Mal divisions.

Tia Deighton from Arrawarra, in the FX Wax - Open Ladies; Marlin Guihot from Newcastle, in the Burford Blanks - Open 9'; Danny Bond from Arrawarra, in the Eungai Rail Store - o/70, and Charlie O'Sullivan from Woolgoolga, in the Reece Plumbing - o/50's.

Local surfers to watch are Mark Fuller in the Club Scotts - o/55's.

Manda Godfrey in the o/40's Ladies.

Lilly Lawson in the Surf 'N Raks - Junior Ladies, and her father Jamie Lawson in the Hamilton Haulage - o/45's Logs; along with Joel Parkhouse & Troy Martin in the Ocean & Earth - o/35's.

Spectators are welcome at both the event, and social gatherings at Club Scotts, especially on Saturday night when, COVID Restrictions pending, the band "Loose Cannons", fires up and everyone starts showing their fine foot work.

The event also raises funds for charity donations.

Tickets to win a 8' Catalyst Surfboard, a weeks holiday at Pottsville or a fine painting donated by Michael Champion, are also available at Club Scotts leading up to the event.
