With both sides sitting on 14 points on top of the ladder there was plenty riding on the Verge Street encounter.
The Mustangs set the standard in the first set with Tim Bull kicking on the 4th tackle as a strong chase forced an opposition drop out.
A try for the home side followed in the 10th minute with a Shane Davis-Caldwell kick to the left corner landing Braith Powick his first try.
Minutes later Matthew Stocks was sent to the bin, however Wauchope weren't able to capitalise on any momentum with a major stoppage in play.
Half-time was called early with a Wauchope player requiring an ambulance.
When the second half resumed, the Mustangs were in a mood.
Another assist came the way of halfback Davis-Caldwell, kicking to the corner for Richard Dixon to catch the ball on the full and score to make it 10-0.
Minutes later, Wauchope had a try disallowed for double movement.
Three quarter time saw the score stay the same as another sin bin followed the break with Tirell Dungay given his marching orders.
12-men wasn't going to stop the Mustangs attack with a mistake at the back for Wauchope seeing Macleay Valley go over before it was disallowed for offside.
The Mustangs continued to look for the sealer though as it came with two minutes remaining.
Winger Braith Powick - the man who started it all - finished proceedings by scoring under the posts.
Lippy Blues players were reminded of the scoreboard by the Mustangs as the home side went into outright first with a 16-0 win.
