Beechwood Shamrocks went back to winnings ways with a 30-12 victory over the Marlins on July 17, despite a distraction involving spectators late in the game.
The Shamrocks have so far only suffered a loss to the Long Flat Dragons in the Bain Cup.
President Geoff Connor said the game was played in good spirits but an altercation occurred when passionate fans were too close to the field.
"The Beechwood versus Marlins game was a pretty close game until the last 10 to 15 minutes," he told the Camden Haven Courier.
"Beechwood have good line speed, while the Marlins may not have been completely fit.
"Both crowds were at fault in the altercation.
"There was only one side of the field to sit and really the crowds were a bit too close to the field, they were too close to the action.
"It did get a bit heated, we don't see that at our level usually."
Mr Connor said spectators aren't allowed on the field during play and it will be addressed.
South West Rocks Marlins president Geoff Ball said the club is looking to move onto the next fixture and backed up Mr Connor's sentiments that both crowds were at fault.
"The players were all good, they played a good game and we just want to get on with the next match," he stated.
In the other Hastings League matches, Comboyne Tigers defeated Harrington Hurricanes, 30-26, while Kendall defeated Lake Cathie Raiders 58-6 and Lower Macleay Magpies defeated Laurieton Stingrays, 34-20. Long Flat had the bye.
Phillip Thaiday, Jacob Smith, Isoa Navosa, Khalil Hammond, Christopher Holten and Raymond Keeffe were the try-scorers for the Magpies with Dennis Ritchie kicking five goals. Mike Davis picked up the points.
Mr Connor said strong winds plagued most games over the weekend.
"Harrington are improving, with a closer game against Comboyne," he said.
"It was a big day of footy for Lake Cathie versus Kendall as the footy started at noon and went all the way until 4pm. All of the girls played as well."
