Mayukh Prakhya memorises and recites the periodic table in record time

With his care free attitude, you wouldn't know the five-year-old was about to attempt a world record.

Little sister Miriha's waving and smiling to everyone in sight matched her brothers cheerful innocence.

The kindergarten student from St Joseph's Primary School Kempsey, dressed in a bowtie and dinosaur button up, took on the challenge of reciting the periodic table in record time.

With his proud family watching on, along with teachers and students from the Year 12 St Paul's College chemistry class, Mayukh wowed the crowd.

The five-year-old, memorised and recited all the 118 elements on the periodic table in 30.41 seconds.

For a performance just over 30 seconds, how long did it take the youngster to achieve this?

"Five months of practice," Mayukh said.

His work wasn't done there though as he identified all 118 elements by their symbols in 58 seconds and answered a range of questions from students.

His parents, both dentists, Dr Phani Prakhya and Dr Navya Prakhya, were delighted.

"We're happy and proud of his achievements," they said.

The family will now submit the video of Mayukh's recital to the International Wonder Book of Records.

While this is no mean feat, Mayukh has always been a high achiever.

At age 3 he memorised and recited capitals of 192 countries in five minutes and 50 seconds and had a place in the International Wonder Book of Records and Telugu Book of Records.

He wasn't done there.

A year later he recited 560 decimals of the value of pi in front of a Year 7 class at St Paul's College, Kempsey, in two minutes and two seconds.

For this achievement, Mayukh sits 286th in the world on the pi World Ranking List which ranks competitors on the number of digits they can recite and the time it takes them to do so.

He has also been recognised by the Australian book of records stating that he's the youngest in the world.

Following on from his special moment last year, his father's sentiments reflect the care free nature of Mayukh.

"He's very young now, but when he's older he will realise how special this is," Dr Prakhya previously said.

He has received training for all his achievements from proud grandfather, Dr V.V.L.N. Sarma, who has previously memorised pi value up to 500 digits and recited that in one minute 21 seconds.

This effort saw him placed in the International Wonder Book of Records and currently sits 318th on the pi World Ranking List.
