In 1993, we were blessed to receive a brand new Ford Maverick Cat 9. The Cat 9 was built by Jakab in Tamworth.
It was a great addition to the Brigade. It carried around 550 litres of water and had a Robin Diesel pump.
It carried three crew members ... not so squeezy.
Being so nimble and having the ability to go where the bigger trucks sometimes couldn't made it a very versatile little truck.
It attended hundreds of incidents and hazard reduction burns over its time with us, both locally, across the district and out of area, including the 1994 fires north of Grafton.
It was very capable on and off road.
The Cat 9 was retired and sold off in 2006. The Cat 9 was replaced with our current pre-loved 1998 Mitsubishi Canter from Argents Hill Brigade.
