STUDENTS on placements as part of Charles Sturt University science and health courses will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from next year.
Interim vice-chancellor John Germov said the requirement was part of a strong immunisation policy adopted by the university.
"Charles Sturt is strongly encouraging all staff and students to have their COVID-19 vaccination when they become eligible," Professor Germov said.
"This is particularly important for science and health students who go out on placement.
"From 2022, all health students will need to be vaccinated.
"Those who have not received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccination will not be allocated a placement from 2022."
La Trobe University, which like Charles Sturt offers a nursing course at its Albury-Wodonga campus, is also pushing vaccinations but a representative said "tailored advice" was given to placement students.
