The decision was announced on Friday after months of lengthy community engagement and review over redistribution of electoral boundaries.
While Oxley picks up Telegraph Point, Port Macquarie will retain Lord Howe Island which had originally been slated to move into the electorate of Sydney.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, congratulated the island's residents who overwhelmingly made their feelings known to the review panel, with 32 submissions supporting the status quo which earned them a special mention in the final report.
"Islanders and other stakeholders highlighted in their submissions the very close links that the island has with Port Macquarie including of course, that the Island Trader operated by Birdon Marine transports goods and materials to them which in the main are sourced from local businesses from our local community," Mrs Williams said.
"It made perfect sense to keep the island in the Port Macquarie electorate with linkages to our district for a range of critical services including policing, education and emergency services."
But, Port Macquarie electorate will no longer include the communities of Upper Lansdowne and Lansdowne which are transferred to Myall Lakes.
The redistribution process strives to ensure there are approximately the same number of voters in each of the State's 93 electoral districts.
Redistribution is undertaken after every second NSW State general election. The last redistribution was conducted in 2013.
Now finalised, the changes made by this redistribution process will be in place for the 2023 and 2027 NSW general elections.
