Forming in late 2020, the network consists of KHS alumni scattered across Australia and the world, determined to provide a supportive pathway for current students.
As part of this support, two $1000 scholarships are up for grabs to KHS students with the funding coming entirely from donations by former students and the Kempsey community.
The Senior Student Support Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship on offer to students who will be in Year 10-12 in 2022 who need help to stay in school or to start vocational training.
The Year 12 Equity Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship for students graduating at the end of 2021. This scholarship is designed to help students on their journey after high school.
The KHSAN Scholarships Subcommittee will rank candidates based on the strength of their application, and may consult referees. The subcommittee will provide a recommendation to the committee which will deliberate and make a decision.
"If there's anyone in the community that wanted to donate towards the scholarship fund we'd be happy to accept donation so we can keep the scholarship program going," KHSAN Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Scholarships manager Alison Jones said.
"We want to make sure that people who need it get it and if we get more donations maybe we offer more than two."
KHSAN can be contacted via khsancommittee@gmail.com and applicants can apply at https://kempseyhighalumni.blogspot.com/.
