The plans have been a point of contention for the South West Rocks community ever since they were proposed at the beginning of the year, with more than 100 public responses received by Kempsey Shire Council during the public exhibition of plans in May.

The withdrawal was confirmed by KSC Development and Compliance manager Graham Snow in response to a question on notice by Cr Leo Hauville from the council's previous ordinary meeting.

South West Rocks Country Club CEO, David Cunningham, said that the "project certainly isn't dead in the water".

"We are just taking a breath and looking at a funding model. Council came back with some questions and we thought we could assess some things," Mr Cunningham said.

"That development application we submitted was put together quickly because we were applying for a government grant, and it doesn't look like that is going to come off, so we have a bit of time now to re-look at it."

Greens candidate for Kempsey Shire Council, Arthur Bain, who is contesting council elections in December is happy with the withdrawal.

"I believe that the community doesn't support it all," Mr Bain said.

"I welcome the opportunity that it has been re submitted, because that gives the community more time to have a well thought out reason and respond to any changes."

As of now, there isn't a date for when the plans will be re submitted to council.
