That much is true in the Coastal Premier League after seven clubs released a joint statement rejecting plans to expand the competition to 12 clubs in 2022.
The seven dissenters are Taree Wildcats, Boambee, Coffs City United, Northern Storm, Coffs Coast Tigers Macleay Valley Rangers and Kempsey Saints.
The Argus understands Sawtell's committee are deliberating on their decision.
The CPL this year announced plans to add two clubs next season. Earlier this month a newly formed franchise from the Forster-Tuncurry area, Southern United, was the successful applicant from the Football Mid North Coast Zone, beating a bid from Camden Haven.
It's expected that Bellingen will be the successful applicant from North Coast Football.
Last week Taree Wildcats issued a statement on the club's Facebook page opposing the decision with Northern Storm and Boambee Bombers posting similar grievances.
"I would hope rather than being seen as a negative that it's seen as a massive positive and we embrace this and look forward to season 2022 with even greater competition," he said.
"There were numerous discussions held about (expansion) and it was no secret, it was certainly very public about the intention right from the beginning," he said.
"The conversation started back in December and I find it interesting the pushback has only commenced after we made the announcement of Southern United.
"While I respect Taree Wildcats' right to have an opinion and be vocal about it I am a little bit disappointed.
"We did have two bye rounds scheduled this year and we're more than confident even if we start the competition a week earlier and have one bye round, the season will only extend to the same length that it would have done this year."
Mr Parsons offered a short statement in response to the clubs press release.
"I have no comment at this stage as all I've seen are statements on some social media. Neither the board of Football Mid North Coast nor North Coast Football has received any direct or official communication from the club presidents involved," he said.
The joint statement lists 17 areas of concern regarding expansion for next season along with the way the bidding process has been handled.
One point lists the rejection of comments made by Mr Parsons that the CPL season will not be required to be extended by any more than one week and that "bye" weekends will not be required in 2022.
The clubs then list a further 11 requirements that any club must meet before submitting a proposal to join the CPL.
The full statement can be read here.
