"We are so excited to reach this milestone, and though we won't be celebrating in person, we have some special events for our members and visitors via Zoom," said president Wendy Haynes.
The centre has offered several workshops in locations across the Mid North Coast and via Zoom since November 2020 up until July this year.
Moving forward into 2022, the writers' centre will again offer live workshops which begin in February.
To kick off their birthday celebrations they are staging a Bubbles & Banter event via Zoom for members and visitors at 5pm on Friday 1 October 2021.
"This is going to be fun," Ms Haynes said.
There will be a quiz, a story circle, and Bubbles and Banter, with one lucky attendee winning free membership for a year.
On October 16 from 4pm they will be offering another event for poets in the region Poetry and Pinot where poets will have the opportunity to recite or perform their poetry in front of a live online audience.
"We have already had great interest in this event so it's sure to be a wonderful way for the community to connect and discover the many talented poets living in our region," Mr Haynes said.
A community grant provided by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council as part of the Make Waves Project, the group was able to offer two poetry workshops in June and July. The poetry slam event is listed for 2022.
There will also be a series of free one hour workshops offered throughout the month facilitated by Ms Haynes. These workshops are designed to help writers build their knowledge and skills in the craft of writing.
Their first annual short story competition opens on 1 October 2021.
The panel of three judges are Hayley Lawrence, Jacqui Winn, and Leonie Harrison.
