"The Coastal Claymaker's committee is pleased to announce its 2021 Member's Exhibition 'Element's'," group member Michaela said.

"The four substances earth, water, air, and fire regarded as the fundamental constituents of the world, Elements represent the simplicity and hence the complexity of the medium within which we work."

Every group member will showcase a unique style demonstrating various techniques from hand-building to wheel throwing and slip casting or a combination.

There will be high-fired porcelain, mid-fired terracotta and black clay or speckled stoneware.

Clay is a varied as the medium itself and offers an endless interpretation. Works may be fired in electric kilns, gas kilns or wood fire kilns.

While some members of the group are only beginning their clay making journey, others have had a lifelong connection and expertise in working with clay.

Co-sharing The Art Space with the Coastal Claymaker's is painter Kelly Finley, whose career as a Florist has encouraged a deep visual knowledge of floral and plant life.

Her work flourishes with colour and texture as she explores mostly abstract floral and landscape imagery.

The public is invited to join the Coastal Claymaker's for the official exhibition opening on October 16 from 3pm until 5pm, and then 10am to 4pm daily until October 30.

The exhibition will strictly adhere to all government COVID-19 restrictions, whatever they may be at the time.
