The webinar will focus on the women who are key to the success and livelihood of regional and agri-communities. They run farm businesses, work across the agri-value chain, provide secondary income sources and lead agricultural industries.

Josie is a PhD candidate and the founder of Ability Agriculture, an online platform for farmers with a physical and intellectual disability.

Born into a family of generational farmers, Josie grew up on a beef cattle farm in Kempsey.

At the age of five, her father Glen was involved in a truck accident and became paraplegic. While the family adopted extra responsibilities on the farm, Glen learnt how to adapt his farming practices to his individual needs.

Inspired by her father's story and identifying a lack of representation of people with disabilities in the agriculture industry, Josie launched the Ability Agriculture group in January 2021.

The platform provides a space for people to share stories, innovations and modifications for people with a disability on farms.

Josie is passionate about starting a positive conversation and creating a more inclusive farming community in addition to sustainable agriculture.

Currently working at the University of Sydney in drought-resilient crop research, she is completing a PhD in nitrogen use efficiency in maize and barley.
