Welcomed rain it really was and despite enough falling during the night the scheduled event to remember two once great mates of the Kempsey Veterans Golf Club was postponed on Tuesday.

Was back in December of 2014 that Charlie Hermiston and Paul Fleming passed away and quickly a special trophy - Memorial Shield that bears their names and photo badges - became part of the Club's annual program.
Ironically it was last year that the event also suffered due to similar conditions, but officials had no hesitation this time in backing up just the one week later.
"Yes, Charlie and Paul, were very prominent members and most of us will remember their antics whilst being active members in the times prior to their deaths," president Greg Mayhew said.
"When our acting captain Graeme Dyet suggested to both secretary Chris Hudson and myself to defer the Foursomes Championship from next Tuesday and stage the Memorial Shield instead we had no objection.
"The Foursomes, which this year is to be played over 18 holes, can be held anytime really and I am sure all will agree with that," Mayhew said.
Meanwhile, the chance to farewell popular member Dan Cater was also rained out on Tuesday, however he phoned in to apologise his no show (so to speak).
"Big Dan" and his better-half are leaving Crescent Head - they've sold up lock, stock and barrel - and bought up in Kingscliff, where he says he will meet up with former good mate Bob Kingdon.
Also local seaside residents, the Kingdons moved further north along the coast to Pottsville and already golfing plans have been arranged. Go for it Dan!
"I apologise for not being there today and we'll be back before Christmas when the Gold Medal Day and the Annual Dinner will be held. We still have some business to do here," Dan said in a sombre sort of way.
If the break in the COVID-19 pandemic ways and means continues Tuesday's play will have a 9am tee-off and similar rules to those of late will apply. Don't forget that masks are a must inside.
