Proceedings will go ahead, similar to last year's event, with a 500 person crowd limit.

All patrons will need to be double vaccinated with tickets $20 each.

The Cup day will see one important change to the racing run-sheet with the 1900m Showcase receiving an upgrade in class.

2020 Kempsey Cup:

Last year's race was a Class 3 handicap won by five-year-old mare Zellymay, however this time around it's a Showcase Benchmark 74.

Along with handsome prize-money, first place will be handed an extra reward.

"The winner will be exempt from ballot for the Taree Cup two weeks later, receiving an automatic entry," Kempsey race club secretary John Graham said.

Nominations for that event and the rest of the races, including the coveted Kempsey Cup, will be public in two weeks according to Mr Graham.

Last year's Kempsey Cup was won by Port Macquarie trainer Tas Morton with Mr Smartee.
