Children who are part of the Early Explorers program were back on to the school grounds this week.
"It was lovely to see their excited faces walking through the gate, eager to get into the classroom with their friends," principal Penny Chow said.
Early Explorers is a high quality transition program that supports the successful transition of students to Kempsey East Public School.
This is a free program that runs for 6 months and is designed to make starting 'big' school smooth for children and their families.
"Throughout these sessions, your child will participate in a variety of play based learning experiences. Among other things, they will increase their familiarity with the school environment, staff and routines of the school day.
"This program allows us to get to know your child as an individual and enhance your child's literacy and numeracy skills. It also provides opportunities that enable parents/carers to share in the transition.
"Early Explorers complements, not replaces, early childhood education programs your child may already be attending."
