With the National Breast Cancer Foundation being a charity close to home, staff from Kempsey, Coffs Harbour and Taree all dressed in pink to raise vital funds.

"Some of our staff have relatives who've lost their lives or are affected by cancer so we decided to start a fundraiser," Lea Mavin told the Argus.

With only two weeks notice, Lea got to work.

"I said let me see if I can pull it off and we did, they embraced it and got behind it," she recalled.

That work included the organisation of pink shirts for all staff as well as a barbecue today (Friday October 22).

Along with raising money for a worthy cause, staff had an extra incentive with dealer principal Dean Mavin agreeing to dye his hair pink if they raised $1000.

The bet was never in doubt with the current fundraising figure at $5000.

"It was only meant for today but they're telling me it won't rinse out," Dean laughed.

However, his wife Lea assured him "it will".

After the doom and gloom of COVID, the Mavin's were stoked they could do some good will.

"It's a really positive concept after a few challenging months so it's been a good experience and the staff have really enjoyed it," Lea said.
