Kempsey Shire Council has been monitoring the river throughout the event.
The key updates for Wednesday, November 24 are as follows:
- The river peak has passed through Turners Flat, Sherwood and Aldavilla and is now passing through Kempsey.
- The river peaks do not appear to have reached the forecast levels downstream of Turners Flat, and the Bureau of Meteorology has adjusted their forecast to 'Flooding No Longer Expected at Kempsey'.
- Turners Flat Bridge is OPEN.
- Bellbrook Bridge is CLOSED.
- Toorooka Bridge is CLOSED.
- Temagog Bridge is CLOSED.
- Sherwood Bridge is CLOSED.
- Dungay Creek Causeway is CLOSED.
- There will be impacts in the upper catchments and adjoining streams of the Macleay River.
- The river level is expected to have an impact on the lower lying areas of Riverside Park in Kempsey.
- The flood relief and cross over gates at Kinchela Creek and Belmore River, and the flood gates on Euroka and Christmas Creeks are closed.
FLOOD GATES
Council has closed the cross over and relief flood gates on Belmore River and Kinchela Creek, as well as the flood gates at Chirstmas and Euroka Creeks as a precaution.
This decision has been made due to the river level rises seen throughout Monday and the Minor Flood Warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Monday afternoon.
Council will continue to be monitor the situation and updates will be provided as information becomes available.
