Kempsey Shire Council has organised an event for December 4, inviting parents and children of all ages to come along and enjoy the afternoon.
The pump track has been an ongoing project in West Kempsey, involving multiple government grants and active support from the public.
There will be pro bike riders doing demonstrations, a DJ playing music, clothing giveaways, free food, and one lucky kid will be able to take home a brand new dirt jumper bike, courtesy of the pump track builders.
Also a mechanic station will be set up to fix bikes, and help teach kids maintenance skills.
Aisha Spokes, community projects officer for council, said the track has far exceeded their expectations in its ability to bring people together.
"This idea was grassroots and came directly from the community, it started off with a small grant and to date now, we have leveraged even more sponsorships and we even have shelter and seating coming in the new year," Ms Spokes said.
"I just love how people from all over the Shire are getting together at a space, and having a great time."
The most recent works include the laying of 500sqm of turf around the track, and the installment of a shipping container by the Kempsey Neighborhood Centre.
"That shipping container is a really important piece to the project, it was never just about delivering infrastructure, but building that base for this ongoing work with the community," Ms Spokes said.
"The container is going to house equipment for ongoing programs from the site, and there will be a graffiti artist in the new year who will come and do a workshop with the kids by painting the outside of it."
Also the track recently took on a platinum sponsor donation of $20,000 from Kempsey Community Suicide Prevention, with the money to be put towards installing help seeking signage at the track offering supportive options for those in need.
"The track will be an area that is known as a safe space, kids can go there in a crisis, there will be numbers to call, and our outreach team will make sure that it will be a part of their patrol area," Ms Spokes said.
The event is being held from 2pm-6pm, Saturday 4 December, at the West Kempsey Pump Track on Polwood street. To find out more, head to West Kempsey pump track.
"Come along it's going to be a great day of fun, really looking forward to the community getting together after all the lockdowns, and let's have a great time," Ms Spokes said.
