The club will host an event on December 12 as a celebration of how far they have come.

There will be memorabilia, old news clippings and books containing a detailed timeline of the club available for purchase.

Vice president Ross Foster said it was an outstanding achievement to reach the century.

"I think it's a significant milestone and it's still in my mind, the question 'who is the oldest club on the Mid North Coast?'. South West Rocks maintain they are, but looking at the history books, I think we are," Ross said.

Formed in 1921, the club has been a perennial part of the Crescent Head community, and well known for its fun, light-hearted nature.

"It's been a history of larrikins," Ross said.

"Members were admonished because they were caught in the ladies surf club, boat crews were admonished because they had females in the boat taking them for a ride."

Club member and event organiser Pam Foster said that all though they were having fun there was still a strong element of duty.

"During World War Two, when those guys went away and were training for armed services, they had to get leave from the club, as you couldn't miss a patrol," Pam said.

She said she was proud that the club was so progressive in its acceptance of women.

"We were on the front foot with females being accepted in the club, and then by the late 80s they had a woman on the committee. And now you look at our club - we are being led by strong women," Pam said.

If you are interested in celebrating the rich history of the club, the event is being held on Sunday 12 December, 10am until 6pm at the Crescent Head Surf Club.

"Everyone can come, they can grab a coffee from downstairs, we'll have the bar open in the afternoon and it's a celebration of what we are, and who we are," Pam said.

The club wants to give a special shoutout to Ev Jacobs for her amazing ability at fundraising over the years.
