V4C is a community-driven, volunteer-run organisation, committed to engaging the community with the political process.
With the current focus on the roles played by independent candidates in the upcoming Federal election, the group is facilitating a process to seek a candidate to represent the electorate with an focus on the issues raised in their recent report.
Over the past two years, V4C has run a series of Kitchen Table Conversations and asked local people what is most important to them.
More than 250 people shared ideas and important issues during 49 kitchen table-style conversations across the Cowper electorate.
The topics covered living in Cowper, political engagement and representation and the bigger issues beyond Cowper of most concern.
The report's release is the result of two and half years of work to establish the organisation, set up the process of kitchen table conversations, listen to the community and collate the participants' issues and concerns.
Climate change and the protection of the environment were high on the list.
Inequality in our society and the culture of politics were other matters that many participants flagged as needing to be addressed.
The report was launched on November 14.
"The challenge now is to seek a candidate willing to contest the seat and run on the following key issues raised in the report: climate and environment, political integrity, and social inequality," V4C convenor Gillian Anderson said.
The deadline for candidate submissions via the website is 5pm on Sunday, January 23, after which each profile will be published.
V4C will then facilitate an online public meeting on Sunday, February 6 to enable Cowper residents to vote for the candidate who will best represent them.
"Importantly, V4C will endorse the successful candidate, but will take no part in their individual election campaign," Ms Anderson said.
"After all it is democracy, and we're all in this together."
