The Stingers are unlikely to progress to the next round of the Regional Bash and a shot at playing on the Sydney Cricket Ground after a 24-run loss to Northern Rivers Rock on Saturday.

Wet weather then forced the cancellation of their remaining matches against Coffs Harbour and Northern Inland on Sunday which left captain Josh Hyde to lament the weekend.

"We showed that we should have won the game against Northern Rivers and it was inexperience with the bat that probably cost us," he said.

"But we knew going into it that we had a young side and having a loss like that, with the type of cricketers they are, they would have learned from it pretty quick. It's disappointing."

The Stingers were bowled out for 99 in the 19^th over in pursuit of the Rock's 8-123 after a late-innings fightback saw the Northern Inland side lose 5-25.

Despite the disappointment, Hyde was impressed with the performances of youngsters Lachie Dowling, Bryce Cook and Ryan Bray.

"They didn't look out of place against a side like the Rock and that's a good thing for cricket going forward," he said.

"I was stoked with the way Lachie went about his business and he was probably our best fielder. With the bat he hit the ball to the boundary whenever he had the chance to."

Dowling finished with 23 runs off 17 balls while Bray (1-15 off three overs) and Cook (2-17 off four overs) were strong with the ball.

"Ryan bowled into the wind uphill and he executed everything we asked him to. He didn't miss the mark once and Bryce is probably the best fast bowler in this region and he's only 16 or 17."

Hyde was also disappointed the remaining matches were unlikely to be rescheduled due to a condensed country cricket calendar.

"I think for country cricket there needs to be a result for a carnival like this, but I don't know if it was logically possible," he said.

"They should just find a way. If that means meeting the other teams halfway on a Sunday then that's what we should do."
