2022 marks the fourth annual Darcy Ward Invitational, recognised as a large speedway event with senior and junior riders attending by invitation only.
Sonny will be one of the youngest riders at the event, competing in the junior 125cc against 15 other participants.
The competition will be fierce but Sonny's father Tim said he'll keep everyone on their toes.
"He's got a tall order, there's the Queensland champion riding against him along with last year's New South Wales and South Australian champions," he said.
"But he'll be in there and they'll know he's there."
After the cancellation of the Australian titles this year, Tim described the event as something a lot of riders would aspire to attend.
"For us this year in Australian speedway, this is probably our biggest event," he explained.
"Sonny was pretty stoked to get invited up there, Darcy is one of his idols, he loves him."
Other events on the night include juniors 250cc and a main event for side cars and solos featuring Australian champions Rohan Tungate and Sam Masters.
