DORRIGO Lions Club, supported by Bellingen Shire Council, are set to host this year's Australia Day Awards Ceremony at Dangar Falls Picnic Area in Dorrigo on January 26.
The event is set to start at 10am, with the awards ceremony scheduled to begin soon after at 10:30am.
This year council has refined the award categories to better reflect community aspirations, challenges and achievements following the success of last year's 2021 Australia Day Awards Ceremony.
Like always, the awards will recognise local unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help the wider community.
The program on the day will include Welcome to Country and a free barbecue breakfast and light refreshments.
Newly elected Mayor, Cr Stephen Allan will recognise Australia Day Awards recipients during the proceedings.
Community members are welcome to attend the Australia Day celebration but are reminded to adhere with all current COVID-19 restrictions set by the government.
Social distancing will also be required where possible.
Seating will be limited so anybody interested in attending is encouraged to bring a picnic rug or equivalent.
