The 21-year-old popular member of the 5 Church Street Café in Bellingen will soon surrender his dreadlocks to the clippers of local hairdresser Paul Young in a bid to raise funds for Bellinger River District Hospital.
Felix’s boss and café owner Paul Cauchi has thrown his support behind the Hair Razor Fundraiser, as has Chevuex Hair Studio and the NAB.
“We were talking about raising money for a worthwhile charity,” Mr Cauchi said.
“Everyone has a charity they would like to support, but Bellingen River District Hospital is our local hospital; it supports our local community and so we decided we’d support our hospital.”
Proceeds from the Hair Razor Fundraiser will go to improve patient amenity at the hospital.
Executive officer and director of nursing Kath Boman said community support for the health campus made a welcomed difference to patients and their families.
“Sometimes the funding helps us to buy new equipment; sometimes it helps us to provide items that make our patients’ stay a little more comfortable,” Ms Boman said.
“We are always thankful for the support because we know how much of a difference it makes to patients.
“Felix’s generosity and the generosity of Bellingen residents who are supporting his fundraiser is greatly appreciated.”
