2018 was a year of significant review, challenge and change for Kempsey Shire Council and the community. Council is now looking ahead to the new year and building on the work achieved to date.
“Our change of management at council in 2018 means the focus can now move to creating a more customer-focused approach which will continue to deliver benefits to the community in the coming year,” Mayor Campbell said.
A number of projects are already planned for 2019, including the replacement of Turners Flat bridge and road rehabilitations for sections of the Armidale Rd, Hat Head Rd, Betts and Innes Streets in East Kempsey and Marine Parade in Stuarts Point.
“A number of significant grant funded projects will commence this year including the Monument Point walkway at South West Rocks, the lighting upgrade at Jim Stirling Oval and upgrades to playgrounds, amenities and boating facilities at Fredrickton, Stuarts Point and Back Creek at South West Rocks.”
Mayor Campbell said council will maintain community focus and continue to involve the community in projects.
“We will provide more opportunities for residents to have their say through community feedback. Our community catch-ups held in towns and villages across the shire will continue in 2019 in Hat Head, Kundabung, Crescent Head and Bellbrook,” she said.
Mayor Campbell said she is looking forward to 2019 and delivering the projects that will benefit the Macleay community.
“I look forward to 2019 and continuing to work together as a community on the projects that will make the Macleay Valley healthy, wealthy, safe and connected.”
“We have a busy year ahead with a number of projects to be rolled out, including the opening of our new cinema complex by October 2019.”
“I wish everyone in the Macleay a safe and happy New Year and all the best for the year ahead.”
