In 1906, at the half yearly meeting of the Nambucca Dairy Company, it was decided to form an agricultural society to encourage farmers to breed better stock. The
chairman at the time was Mr M Wallace.
The first show was held in Mr Wallace’s paddock (behind the Nambucca Hotel) on April 11 and 12, 1907.
Since that time the show has seen two world wars and many changes, but the essence of the show remains to the present day.
Agriculture is still a very important facet of the show, featuring many agricultural enterprises in the cattle pavilion, produce, crafts and cooking in the AS Napier Pavilion, poultry pavilion, goat shed, the dogs in the dog arena plus riding in the main show ring.
We also boast the Mid North Coast’s best sideshow alley – some people call it ‘the mini royal’.
To find out more of the show’s extensive history we are publishing a book that that is full of history, stories, facts, pictures and anecdotes from the past.
The book will be on sale at the show and has been compiled by Betty Trisley and her committed team of volunteers.
The show would not go on if it wasn’t for volunteers – thank you for all your help over the years.
