One of the main organisers Liz Watson said even though team numbers were down on previous years the day ‘was fantastic’ and ran smoothly.
The round robin competition featured junior teams from 6s to 12s with the majority of Macleay based clubs represented. The Port United Wallabies 6s side were the only team from outside the area.
One of the highlights of the event was the reaction from the younger players in the non-competitive 6s and 7s competition when they received their participation trophy at the end of the day.
“Seeing their reaction is what drives you to continue to organise days like these,” Watson said.
“For some it was their first trophy and their joy was contagious.”
