The day began with the juniors and juvenile riders receiving instruction from Ian Argue who did a wonderful job instructing the young riders in the basics and safety aspects of campdrafting.
Round 1 of the campdrafting competition got underway with a congested leader board as horse and riders gave their best to gain further points to add to their totals. Emerging from the pack was master horseman, Skip McCarthy, who won riding Tellem I'm Jassy with Darren Brislane in second place.
The juniors had their turn to demonstrate what they had learnt and Darby Prior on A1, Flirt and Skills, a horse his father John had previously put through the Macleay Challenge Futurity, gained enough points to take home the tile. The juvenile winner was Kyle Patterson riding his father's well performed 10 year old mare Stich.
The scene was set for a thrilling finish with horse and riders lining up for the final challenge. Going into the second round of the campdraft Daren Brislane and Skip McCarthy were tied on equal points. Skip gave a faultless performance to emerge as the winner of the campdraft section and the overall winner of the 2014 Macleay Challenge Futurity on Tellem I'm Jazzy. Adam Wilson finished strongly placing second overall, while Darren Brislane, riding Tocal Jazz Kat, took 3rd place having performed strongly in all classes.
