The car narrowly missed a woman who was sitting on the front steps.
Tim Jeffery said he was asleep when the out of control Ford Territory four-wheel drive hit the house about 4.30am.
“I was in bed just 2m from when the car smashed through the steps but my partner couldn’t sleep so she went to get some fresh air out on the front steps,” Mr Jeffrey said.
“She saw the car come through the front wire fence and only just managed to leap out of the way before the car demolished the steps and punched a hole in the wall at the front under the house.
“Luckily our place is elevated a bit so the car went under the house, not through it.”
Mr Jeffery said the circumstances of the crash were very strange.
“We are at the end of a cul-de-sac and there are no skid marks on the road or in the front yard, so it looks like they didn’t put the brakes on at all," he said.
“After they smashed into the house they have reversed and driven off before stopping just down the street, then I think they have abandoned the car and run off.
“I called the police straight away and they had the car towed.
"You can see the pile of brick, rubble and a pot plant that was on the bonnet of the car in a pile on the side of the road just down the street.”
Kempsey Police confirmed the car was not reported as stolen and investigations into the incident were continuing.
