After much speculation, the club announced on Friday afternoon that it had completed the purchase of the land on which the club sits.
It bought the land from the NSW Crown Lands Department, a move that had been many years in the planning.
The club already held a perpetual lease of the site but had been attempting to purchase the land outright for many years.
The move ensures the long term future of the club against government rent increases and allows the club to reduce red-tape because it no longer has to seek permission from the NSW Crown Lands Department for additions or alterations to the club.
The Club was excited to have special guests on hand for the announcement, including ClubsNSW Chairman Peter Newell and Oxley MP Andrew Stoner.
Crescent Head Country Club secretary manager Colan Ryan said there were many to thank for this wonderful outcome.
“Peter Newell, ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball and all the staff of ClubsNSW need to be commended," he said.
"In particular ClubsNSW Executive Manager Josh Landis for his assistance and dedication over the past seven years.
“We would also like to thank Andrew Stoner for backing the club for many years, from way back when he was in opposition.”
Mr Ryan said the club’s board of directors, staff and members were also thanked for their perseverance.
“The club’s board of directors and staff have all played a very important role in this result and you should all be very proud,” Mr Ryan said.
“Thanks as well to the members of the club for having the understanding and foresight to continue to keep a stable board at the club.
“Our chairman John Patterson, directors Pam Bryant, Mark Fenwick and Dick Curnow have all been on the board for more than 10 years.
"This outcome has been a long battle and it was important to have stability at Board level. "
Special mention was made of Mr Curnow, a life member of the Crescent Head Country Club who formerly worked for the Lands Department and whose knowledge and assistance had been invaluable.
“This outcome has been made possible by the combined commitment from so many parties; a result which is fantastic for the community of Crescent Head,” Mr Ryan said
Crescent Head Country Club will continue to be proactive in assisting the community and working toward a sustainable future.
