Touring NSW to promote the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2015, the free Tour is an initiative by the NSW Government to build excitement in Regional NSW for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and also promote the sport of cricket and in the State’s regional communities.
Not only did locals from Kempsey got the latest cricket tips from Cricket NSW, they were able to view Cricket World Cup memorabilia from the famous Bradman Museum as well as a giant inflatable replica of the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy.
Nathan Bracken said the event was a fantastic opportunity to get the local community excited for next year’s tournament.
“It’s a fantastic initiative by Destination NSW to have the Home Ground Cricket Tour come to Kempsey and ignite the passion for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in early 2015,” he said.
“It’s also a great way to bring all aspects of cricket together with all the activities in one space. You have everyone watching the cricket on the big screen, playing in the inflatable nets and walking through the museum which showcases a lot of history.”
Mr Bracken was on hand to answer questions at a Q and A session held at the West Kempsey Hotel later in the day.
The travelling roadshow is visiting a total of 27 locations throughout Regional NSW this summer.
Sydney will play a major part in the staging of the tournament by hosting three pool matches including South Africa v West Indies, Australia v Sri Lanka, England v Afghanistan, a Quarter Final and a Semi Final at the SCG.
