First and foremost BVBA will field a men’s team in the high profile Basketball NSW Waratah State League competition, the only North Coast basketball association to enter the upcoming season with both Grafton and Coffs Harbour not in a position be part of the 2015 season.
BVBA will conduct a trial for this state league men’s team at Bishop Druitt College on Sunday afternoon, January 11 from 1.30 to 3.30 with accomplished coaches Shane Dunlop and Denise Challinor at the helm.
If all goes to plan BVBA will field a full set of Bellinger Braves guys and girls teams from under 12s through to Under 18s in the Northern NSW Junior League in the 2015 March to July representative season.
They will also continue their Junior Development program at Urunga Primary School and significantly expand their school-based activities.
Coming off some exciting pre-season championship wins in the Port Macquarie and Grafton odd-age carnivals, the young Bellinger Braves are keen to stamp their mark in the tough Northern NSW League where they will cross swords with Tamworth Thunderbolts, Port Macquarie Dolphins, Coffs Harbour Suns, Lismore Lakers, Grafton Vikings and probable entries from Quirindi, Armidale, Ballina, Kempsey and Taree.
With trials for representative season teams taking place in late January and the first week of February, many of the current Braves junior girls and boys teams are close to being highly competitive at all levels within NSW.
The invitation is warmly extended to come along and trial for the respective age groups and to meet the highly accredited BVBA volunteer coaches who will lead their Braves teams on the war path this coming season.
Check out the BVBA website and Facebook for times and dates of trials.
Development program will start again with the start of Term 1, 2015.
Previous junior representative basketball playing experience is not really essential; the Braves coaches are just looking for athletes with great attitudes and are both keen and coachable.
In particular boys and girls born in 2004/2005 are encouraged to come along to start their basketball careers as members of the BVBA Braves under 12 girls and boys teams.
