The matter was adjourned until April 15 at Macksville Court. Conditions of the youth’s bail include reporting to police on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; to live with his father in Nambucca Heads; to observe a curfew between 7pm and 7am; not to go within 500m of the school involved; not to contact or go near the teacher or any witnesses and not to drink alcohol or take drugs.
It's alleged the youth and a 14-year-old boy were involved in an altercation at a school on Centenary Pde, at around 11am yesterday.
As a result the older boy was removed from the school grounds by staff, but a short time later, he returned to the grounds when he was again directed to leave by a staff member.
The boy allegedly refused and stabbed the teacher in the arm with a knife, before being restrained by other staff.
Police were called and officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command attended.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station.
He was charged with common assault, reckless wounding and assault with intent to rob from an unrelated incident.
The staff member was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital for surgery and is in a stable condition.
