Playing at Crescent Head, the first grade side managed a 31-12 victory against Forster Tuncurry while the reserve grade side beat Old Bar 19-12.
It was the second round of trial games for the club ahead of their season opening game against the Southern Cross University Marlins at Crescent Head on April 11.
First grade coach Jared Fuller said while the result was positive, there is still plenty of work to do for his side going forward.
“We haven’t really been doing much ball work at training because we have mainly been concentrating on our fitness so we were a bit scrappy,” he said.
“I felt we could have quite easily put a few more tries on the board but it was good to get the win. It was a bit disappointing to let two tries in but otherwise, I thought we held together well in defence.”
With a couple of their players nursing pre season injuries, Saturday was also an opportunity for some of the club’s newer players to prove their worth ahead of the season start.
Fuller said there are no guarantees regarding the starting line up for the opening game.
“There is plenty of competition for spots in first grade and reserve grade at the moment which is great to see,” he said.
