As always there are some special treats in store, including this year’s guest ribbon-cutter, popular actor Bryan Brown.
Brown, whose career dates from the seventies when he starred in classics Odd Angry Shot and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith through to more recent offerings such as the 2008 blockbuster, Australia, will be joined by his wife Rachel Ward to donate a magnificently restored vintage horse sulky to the Show Society.
Show president, Michael Ettelson, said the sulky restorations had been done by the Macksville Men’s Shed with the handover set for Saturday after the Grand Parade and opening ceremony.
Other entertainment attractions not to be missed include the death-defying antics of stunt motor bike rider Ken Russell throughout Saturday followed by the Demolition Derby and fireworks finale in the evening.
The trots will be run on both Friday and Saturday and the pavilion will be open throughout, showcasing the agricultural prowess for which the region is well-known.
Once inside visitors will be overwhelmed by the cornucopia of fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, cakes, jams, arts and crafts.
Outside in the ring there will be a full horse program, camp draft, show jump and the hotly contested wood chop.
As well there will be the judging of dairy cattle, beef cattle, a champion dogs show plus poultry and goats.
And don’t forget side show alley, which will be alive with action, thrills, spills and fun (see story below).
All this will be happening from tomorrow at the Macksville Showground - don’t miss out!
