Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command established Strike Force Shanuk in February to investigate the commercial cultivation of cannabis in the Bowraville area.
Following investigations, on April 2, police executed a search warrant at a Bowraville property where they allegedly seized more than 465 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of over $1 million.
Further inquiries led officers to execute a second search warrant at a home on Schnapper Beach Rd, Urunga where almost 3kg of cannabis was allegedly seized.
A 47-year-old man was arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station, where he was charged with ‘cultivate commercial quantity of cannabis’, ‘supply cannabis’ and ‘possess cannabis’.
He was refused bail and appeared at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday.
Investigators expect to make further arrests in relation to Strike Force Shanuk.
