Crowds also swelled for the Main march with the highlight being the ‘appearance’ of nine young men and one woman in accurate 1914 military dress, representing the 407 Dorrigo residents who volunteered for WWI. The volunteers were one quarter of the small town’s 1914 population. More than a tenth did not return.
