THE NAMBUCCA Valley, no stranger to flood, has copped a hammering from the lingering East Coast Low superstorm, but has weathered the event in fair nick.
Despite that, Nambucca SES acting controller Peter Shales has warned that the situation is likely to change with a lot of water at Taylor's Arm still to come down into the system.
Mr Shales said the local SES - bolstered by out-of-area units - had received only a dozen calls for help this morning, but said residents at Taylor's Arm were reporting water levels higher than had been recorded for many a year.
One resident, Joy, told ABC radio that she used a fence post to measure water heights but was unable to so today as the post was now well under water.
A number of roads in the shire are impassable. Mr Shales said the bridge at Grays Crossing was at least 20 foot under, while the road to Gumma Reserve is also closed, as is Lanes Bridge at Bowraville.
The rain across the Nambucca is expected to ease this evening - though some pockets of heavy rain may still be experienced - as the weather system tracks south.
