About 340 participants walked laps of the Kempsey Showground arena over 24 hours from 2pm on Saturday afternoon.
Fiona Foulkes from the Cancer Council Mid North Coast said the Macleay Valley was a special community.
“It was a fantastic effort from everyone who took part,” she said.
“The games and the bands that played went down well.
"The Miss Relay competition where some of the men dress up in women’s clothes was very popular, raising over $1000 alone.
“And apart from a slight sprinkle on Saturday night the weather was perfect if a bit cold.”
One of the unexpected highlights of the event was the performance by Delma Buczko of her original song 'We light a candle' before the lap of remembrance on Saturday evening.
