According to organisers, the trapping program has been going full steam ahead, so there are plenty of horses for sale ranging from weaners, to mares and with foals at foot, young colts and fillies. They also have plenty of coloured horses.
There will be horse handling demonstrations from 10am.
The open days are not just about selling horses, they are public awareness days.
“We are trying to raise awareness of the plight of the brumbies living out there in the wild in the National Park where they are considered a feral animal that needs to be removed,” Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association’s Erica Jessup said.
“We on the other hand consider them to be attractive, versatile, curious and friendly horses that are willing to try anything you put at them and become your lifelong friend at the same time. We are fully self-funded and run entirely by volunteers; because we think they deserve the option.”
Gates open at 9.30am. Entry is $5 per person and kids under 12 are free, so come and see what the fuss is about and join us for a great day out.
The canteen is open all day and your purchase morning tea and lunch or merchandise. Funds raised go towards funding the association’s new facilities and continued care for their horses. Bookings are appreciated for catering purposes. For enquiries, directions and bookings phone Erica on 0428 575-342 or 6657-5342.
