The Men’s 160 surf boat crew - Chris Ward, Mark Notley, Paul Owens, Andrew Packwood and Troy Gaddes - achieved the best rowing result in the club’s history when they finished a hotly contested 4th in the final on Tuesday, cheered over the finish line by a small but vocal group of supporters.
Following on from their third placing at the Country Titles and a fourth at State level, Boat Captain Mark Notley was optimistic of the crew being competitive at national level.
“I’m absolutely stoked for the boys, getting so close to the medals was a brilliant result. They’ve worked really hard for this, it’s a very well deserved result after 6 months of hard training,” he said.
The support we had from family, friends and fellow club members on the beach on the day was fantastic.”
