The Rev. John Flynn had a vision that those living in the Australian Outback could enjoy a safe, sustainable and meaningful life. In 1912 he founded the Australian Inland Mission. This is now known as Frontier Services. Under this banner, a number of programs are provided to help improve the life style of those living in the harsh Australian Outback.
Programs such as, health care, aged care, emergency services including the Royal Flying Doctor Service which was originally start by Rev. John Flynn, as the Australian Aerial Medical Service. In 2005 Frontier Services launched Outback Links. This program is designed to allow volunteers to go into the Australian bush and assist those who are suffering due to drought, floods or other hardships such as poor health.
With approximately 2500 suicides in Australia annually and many in rural areas, programs such as Outback Links are designed to help change this situation.
