Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker visited the Anderson Park playground to inspect the new shade structures and meet local residents who were instrumental in securing the funds through the Stronger Communities Program.
“Installing shade sails may appear a minor addition but it makes a big difference in a community such as Valla Beach, where a playground needs to be safe and protected from the elements for both children and parents,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“The Valla Beach Community Association, Valla Lions Club and Nambucca Shire Council should be proud of their efforts in securing the funding and constructing the playground covers.
“John Windmill, Melvyn Best and Gary Suter from Valla Lions are terrific examples of community leaders who are intent on doing their best for the Valla Beach community, building playground equipment and seating and improving public areas.”
Valla Beach Community Association monthly markets proceeds have been used to fund the playground and partially paid for the shade sails.
Nambucca Shire Council successfully applied for the Federal grant through the Stronger Communities Program.
The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program funds small capital projects in local communities.
It will deliver $45 million over two years (2015-16).
