- Identify the key requirements of becoming a councillor

- Know how the councillor role fits in with Integrated Planning and Reporting
- Understand key elements of council meetings, including code of conduct and conflict of interest.
The candidate briefing sessions will be conducted by Local Government NSW facilitators, Maire Sheehan and Narayan Van de Graaf, both of whom have lengthy experience in local government and in vocational training.
Potential candidates are invited to attend either briefing session regardless of which Shire they reside in.

Recycling artists
MIDWASTE, our regional waste forum, is seeking expressions of interest from artists to deliver workshops on reusing materials to create artistic works, a process known as ‘upcycling’.
The workshops will run at the Bowerhouse Shop in the Raleigh Waste Management Facility.
Examples of suitable or potential workshops are:
- furniture making with pallets and salvaged timber;
- sculpture with found objects;
- making toys with textile waste;
- mending, upcycling and altering clothes;
- rag rug making;
- eco printing and tie-dyeing with natural pigments or other imaginative ideas.
If you are interested contact Wendy Grant on 0422 151 402 or e-mail projects@midwaste.org.au by Wednesday 20 July.
Include a short paragraph about yourself, your work and your experience, as well as a brief outline of the workshop content, timing, number of participants and a budget estimate.
